FAQs

How often should I change the filter in my air conditioner?

Once every month

How long will my air conditioner last?

Air conditioners usually last around 10 years

I just bought a home, is my air conditioner under warranty?

When an air conditioner is installed in a newly constructed home, the unit will have a 10-year warranty. However, this warranty doesn't transfer to a new owner if the home is purchased within the first 5 years of its construction. A 5-year warranty will apply to the unit on a home between 5 to 10 years old. For example, if you purchase a home that was built 2 years ago, you don't have 8 years left on your warranty but 5 years instead.

How often should I have routine maintenance performed on my air conditioning unit?

Every 6 months

What is the average temperature I should keep my thermostat?

The average home is kept at around 76 degrees, but it really comes down to a matter of preference!

Why is my air conditioning unit freezing up?

A number of things could be causing your unit to freeze up including but not limited to reduced airflow or low refrigerant

What is Pruon/Freon?

Both of these are refrigerants used in air conditioning units, refrigerators, etc. Freon, also referred to as R22 was widely used for a number of years until its ozone-depleting properties were identified and its production ceased in 2010. If you have a unit that still uses Freon, it needs to be replaced for both environmental reasons as well as the fact that your unit is likely nearing the end of its usable life. Puron, also called 410A is the more eco-friendly answer to Freon that is now present in almost all cooling products.

Do you have any products that you swear by?

We love Honeywell thermostats and Ultravation UV germ lamps and use them almost exclusively

There's mold in my AC unit, what's the deal?

Condensation occurs naturally with some internal parts of an air conditioner so this damp environment can occasionally lead to a mold problem. Luckily, there are products you can place within your unit to prevent this from occurring such as UV germ lamps
